Climbing

Climbing has run both as a C.C.F. option for the fifth form and as a private activity for small groups of selected boys. Use has been made of the school climbing wall and trainasium and also of the climbing wall at the Folkestone Sports Centre and the artificial hill at Shorncliffe.
Further afield, Harrison's Rocks at Tunbridge Wells provides a stimulating day out for senior boys during the summer term.
The present Lower Sixth form contains four very promising climbers and it is hoped to run a week's course in Snowdonia for them at the end of the summer term.

Dance Band

This year the band played at its regular venues, including the Military Ball, the Town Hall, and for one of the Dover churches. The rock groups gave one performance early in the year, but generally the enthusiasm, morale, and musical standards of the club suffered through problems over practice facilities. With very few changes of personnel, we hope to gain momentum this year.

Quiz Team

The team, consisting of M. West, N. Veitch, K. Callaghan and T. Harris entered the T.S.B. Super Schools Quiz. Having successfully completed a preliminary round draw was well beaten by a team from the Harvey Grammar School, Folkestone - the team which eventually finished as runners-up on the finals night.

Judo

As is the case each year, the Judo club had much enthusiastic support from the junior boys. About 20 boys successfully undertook a grading at the end of the Autumn term and one match was held against a school at St. Nicholas-at-Wade. Unfortunately, apart from a small number of keen senior boys, the club did not attract much support from the Senior school.

Bridge

The bridge club, as such, did not function due to the difficulty in attracting boys at a time outside regular club hours.
Bridge was, however, played on a casual basis by a number of seniors and a team of four was entered in the Daily Mail Schools Bridge Tournament. The playing skill of our team members did not match that of the other competitors and we were placed last in our heat at Ashford.
