A fairly disappointing season last year with many losses recorded. Opening against The Junior Leaders, the backs snoozed and the forwards never really got into gear.

A brave fight against a far more skillful King's Canterbury saw us lose to the only goal of the game. Defensive errors in the two following games contributed to losses against Chatham House and Simon Langton. The team, however, regained confidence and in an inspiring match against Harvey Grammar emerged victors four goals to nil. Inclement conditions necessitated the cancellation of three of the fixtures, and consequently the team never really managed to mould any firm style of play.

2ND XI HOCKEY

Although a true reflection of our capabilities is not shown in the results, the seconds hockey provided us with a good combination of competitiveness and fun.

The ease with which our forwards moved (armed with bent sticks) must have been the reason for so many goals….4! However the lighting set of backs held fast, allowing a modest 26 shots through, of which the keeper only let 24 past.

The fixtures played were there to be enjoyed, but one win would have been appreciated!

Our thanks to all those who participated, the players themselves and all coaches and referees. Perhaps next year their efforts will result in success?
