This part of the magazine may seem rather disjointed to the casual reader. The fact is that in these following accounts we try to make a partial record of the kind of activities offered to the boys of the Duke of Yorks, mostly outside the normal curriculum.

Model Railway Club

The club suffered very badly at the hands of burglars. However, with generous assistance from the school, two members of staff, and the Dover Model Railway Retailers, the club is now functioning nearly as well as before. We shall need to spend about another £30 to complete our recovery, which should be possible over the next twelve months.

First Aid

No first aid club operated during the year, but in the C.C.F. option training for the A.P.C. test, twelve cadets chose first aid. Of these, ten managed to gain the required national standard in order to obtain the St. John's Ambulance Brigade Standard Adult Certificate of first aid.
In connection with the C.C.F., we have now obtained a new Neil Robertson rescue stretcher, which will be of particular use in the adventurous training programme during the Easter vacation.
The climbing option group also received a brief and intensive course on the major principles and treatment in first aid, with special respect to their own requirements. It is hoped that this will be extended to all of the sixth form NCO's in the coming year.

Indoor Football

This senior school activity remains one of the best supported in the school. It meets weekly and is organised by the sixth form.
The club culminates its activities with the annual inter-house tournament during the second term. For the second year running, Wellington house took the trophy, beating Wolfe in a very close and exciting final.
