The movie "Jabberwocky" was released in 1977, directed by Terry Gilliam of Monty Python fame.
The film starred a great bunch of British comedy actors including:
Michael Palin, Harry H. Corbett, John Le Mesurier, Warren Mitchell, Max Wall, Rodney Bewes, John Bird, Bernard Bresslaw, Neil Innes and Terry Jones (amongst others.)
"After the death of his father the young cooper 'Dennis Cooper' goes to town where he has to pass several adventures. The town and the whole kingdom is threatened by a terrible monster called 'Jabberwocky'. Will Dennis make his fortune? Is anyone brave enough to defeat the monster? A medieval tale with Pythonesque humour."
P.S. There was also a Checkoslovakian film, made in 1971, called "Zvahlav aneb Saticky Slameného Huberta" where Lewis Carroll's poem is read and followed by a free-form animated depiction of images and toys from childhood, repeatedly overturned by a live cat. This film too, was also known as "Jabberwocky".
(Not a lot of people know that.......)
